The J&A Oben Foundation Collaborates with MINSANTE and UNICEF to Promote Optimal Nutrition for Women


The J&A Oben Foundation in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health (MINSANTE) and UNICEF, organized a Joint Open Day under the theme "Promoting optimal nutrition practices in women’s life cycles."

 

The joint open day took place on May 17, 2023, at the premises of the J&A Oben Foundation in Yaounde, Cameroon.

 

The activity was funded by UNICEF. The aim of the Joint Open Day was to raise awareness about optimal nutrition practices and sensitize women of different age groups on optimal nutrition practices before pregnancy, during pregnancy, and while breastfeeding.



Speaking at the opening ceremony,   UNICEF Representative, Mr. Chouahibou Nchamoun, said UNICEF has a commitment to accompany the Cameroonian Government in the fight against malnutrition, and the partnership with the J&A Oben Foundation is in line with the commitment.



On her part, theRepresentative of   MINSANTE, Dr. Jeannine Eboumbou, said malnutrition is a real problem in the public health sector and that the Ministry of Public Health is fighting it with the help of partners such as the J&A Oben Foundation.



The open day brought together over 200 participants from diverse backgrounds, including dietitians, pediatricians, nutritionists, and students, among others.

 

Also present was SUN Nutrition Ambassador Eric Njong, CEO of Societé BUNS, who granted a press conference on the importance of creating breastfeeding rooms at the workplace to promote breastfeeding.
